Students participate in Vinnies winter sleep out

7 August 2017 | General Interest

Children in Stage 3 participated in our Annual Winter Sleepout. The night was a success with over $750 raised for the St Vincent De Paul Society.
It was wonderful to see the spirit of service in which some of the children approached the experience.  At St. Kieran’s we are trying to guide the children in an understanding of what it feels like to give.  Our Head, Heart, Hand, approach to service is worthwhile.  It was great to see the number of children, if not all, who actually did jobs around the house or the neighbourhood to raise the money that they donated on the night.  Also, thank you to the parents who allowed their children to raise their own funds.  Money coming directly out of a parent’s wallet isn’t really what we are aiming for.   We are still a work in progress, and each year we will endeavour to do this better. There is no NAPLAN score for generosity, empathy and a sense of giving to others BUT if your child has those things, they will make amazing adults of the future.
