Mathematics is the study of core mathematical concepts across Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability.

Numeracy is the ability to apply mathematical knowledge and skills in a wide variety of personal, social and work settings. It is the capacity, confidence and disposition to use maths to meet the demands of learning, school, home, work and community life.

We aim to develop our students’ confidence in, and enjoyment of, maths as well as fostering positive attitudes enabling each one to become successfully numerate.

We believe:

  • All students have the right to be numerate
  • Each child has the capacity to learn
  • Numeracy has a vital role in all Key Learning Areas
  • Numeracy is purposeful, flexible dynamic and continues to develop throughout an individual’s life.
