Commemoration Service

This morning, students of the Civics and Citizenship Team attended a commemoration service at the Defence of Sydney Monument on North Head.  The service was held to mark the anniversary of the night war to came to Sydney.

It was during late May and early June 1942 that submarines belonging to the Imperial Japanese Navy made a series of attacks on Sydney from the harbour and this ceremony marks the 75th anniversary of that event.

Our students were invited to lay a wreath after the ceremony which was led by the Hon Tony Abbott MP.  Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin AC who is the current Chief of the Australian Defence Force was the guest speaker.

Our senior leaders conducted themselves commendably and the experience is one they will remember.
