The Creative Arts syllabus is divided into four strands:
- Visual Arts
- Music
- Dance
- Drama
The syllabus is designed to enable students to gain increasing understanding and accomplishment in the four strands. It aims to develop a commitment to participate in, and develop a life-long appreciation of the arts.
At St Kieran’s we are fortunate enough to have a specialist creative arts teacher who engages classes K-6 for one session a week in dance, drama and music. Stage 3 students participate in the annual school musical, with opportunities for students to audition for key singing, dance and acting roles. This is a highlight of the school calendar. Students in Stage 2 and 3 can join the optional Song Club which performs at the musical and other events.
St Kieran’s offers students in Years 3 – 6 the opportunity to join in the Junior or Senior band. Both bands take part in local music festivals and competitions and perform to residents in surrounding Nursing Homes.
