Dear Parents
To say that the cancellation of our Mother’s Day breakfast and liturgy this morning was disappointing would be an understatement! The kindergarten students were so looking forward to sharing the liturgy with the school community. In the meantime, we will send a video home today of the kindergarten students singing to our mums. Our plan is to share the liturgy with our parents at a morning assembly soon. Many, many thanks to the P&F and other volunteers who organised and served the breakfast this morning. We have an amazing group of supportive parents!
200 years of Catholic Education
Catholic education today is taken for granted, as one of many options available to families in Australia. However, 200 years ago most Catholics could not afford an education and it was up to people like Mary MacKillop (St Mary of the Cross) and other religious to provide for the poor. It is upon the shoulders of these "giants” that today we have a world-class Catholic education system. A celebration of Catholic education will take place across the country on Monday 24 May, the same day as the athletics carnival. St Kieran’s will be celebrating the occasion on this day with a small representation and then later as a school. More details will follow in the next couple of weeks.
Values Survey
CSBB has produced a survey asking all stakeholders within the system to answer a series of questions around values. The survey was sent home on Monday, and I would ask if you have 5-10 minutes, take time to respond. Thank you in advance.
Cross Country
Congratulations to all our competitors who took part in the Northern Beaches Cross Country at Rat Park on Wednesday. Twenty of our competitors will be travelling to Fagan Park for the next level of competition later this month.
Postponed Meeting
The information meeting planned for last night will go ahead next Thursday evening at 6pm in The Hub. One of our local high school principals will also be present. This is an opportunity to hear the benefits of completing a primary education in the one school.
New Families
This term we welcome five new families to the St Kieran’s community. Welcome to the Hatfield (4B), Rault (4W), Bye (3W), Raap (2B) and Press (2W) families. We hope you settle in quickly and make new friends soon.
Thank You
Many thanks to Ms Bombardieri and the other members of the school leadership team for ensuring the school ran smoothly in my two-week absence.
Youth Mass
Please consider joining the Youth Mass to be held this Sunday evening in the church. There will be great music and participation from many young members of the parish. Remember to wear a mask.
Cocktail Evening
Excitement is building for the Cocktail Evening coming up on Friday 28th May. This is an event that will bring the St Kieran’s community closer together after what has been such a disrupted period in our lives. Talk to your friends and let us get as many of our community together for what should be a wonderful evening together.
Happy Mother’s Day
We wish all our mothers, grandmothers and caregivers a happy and special Mother’s Day this Sunday. We hope you are spoilt by your children and have a well-earned rest during the day.
God bless.
