Dear Parents

This Sunday is the Feast of the Holy Trinity. It follows Pentecost and in turn is followed by the Feast of Corpus Christi. These are traditionally significant feasts of the Church and are associated with the Sacraments of Confirmation, First Communion and if you are old enough to remember, processions at St Patrick’s in Manly!  Masses now can accommodate up to fifty worshippers but you need to reserve a space. Contact the Parish Office if you plan to attend a weekend Mass.

Our students continue to settle back well into the routines of school and learning. Teachers have commented on the resilience of the students and how quickly they are “picking up where they left off.” There is a definite atmosphere of joy and excitement amongst the students and teachers alike at being back at school.
Learning is visibly taking place in all classrooms. Once again, I thank you for your cooperation in adapting to the new transport arrangements and other necessary adjustments. Your support is very much appreciated.

Members of the Advisory Council organised “check-ins” earlier in the week for parents after the fulltime return to school. These will continue next week. Contact a council member if you would like to be part of a gathering.  More details in the 'Taking Care of You' insert towards the end of this newsletter.

Enrolment interviews are being conducted at present. Considering we were unable to host an open day earlier this year, we have had a lot of interest in kindergarten for next year. Thank you to the many parents who have encouraged friends, neighbours or pre-school families to have a look at St Kieran’s. I have conducted many personalised tours over the past few weeks and am very keen to do more. Please help spread the word; word of mouth is the best advertisement!

Until the end of term, I ask that children celebrating birthdays do not bring in cakes, ice blocks, lolly bags etc. We will review this request in Term 3. Thank you for your understanding.

I hope that many of our families are able to make the most of the long weekend by travelling to the country or staying local. Please travel safely and remember to keep your distance!

God Bless
Michael Gallagher

Religious Education

Andrei Rublev's Icon of the Trinity is an oil painting of the Trinity.  God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are painted as the three persons of the one God.

Many of us remember school days where the shamrock was used to explain the unexplainable, the three persons of the one God.

This Sunday the church celebrates Trinity Sunday. My Irish mother always had Neapolitan ice cream ready at this time of year. With it she explained the tri colours of the ice cream, each with their own flavour but which blend together to make the one dessert.

For further information about the symbols and colours of Rublev’s ‘Trintiy’ please visit this link.

Vinnies Request

Driving to school over the last few weeks I have noticed the belongings of a homeless person in the entrance of an unoccupied shop.  On my journey to school I reflect on that with sadness. A very wise ex-parent from St. Kieran's, who worked very closely with homeless people, once told me that it is a fine line between living a "normal life" and homelessness. The loss of a job, family breakdown, death of a family member can all have significant effects on our life as we know it. The current climate has shown the vulnerability of many. So, I am including a list of some items that might be useful for people living in such circumstances. Again, I stress, help if you can but don't feel guilty if you can't.

On that note, I would like to pass on a message from Vinnies."'If there is anyone in our community who needs assistance of any kind, please contact Vinnies direct and they will do whatever they can to assist you."
God bless.
