Dear Parents
Today is World Teachers’ Day, a day to remember and thank teachers across our country for the remarkable work they do in preparing our children for a bright future. In what has been an unprecedented year, our teachers and school support staff have all continued to show their professionalism and resilience, striving every day to do their best for our students. By commemorating World Teachers’ Day, we have the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful work of all teachers across our country. I personally would like to thank and acknowledge the amazing work of the St Kieran’s staff for the tireless efforts they have made this year.
An example of our teachers’ amazing efforts was realised this week with the production of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. Our Stage 3 students, under the brilliant direction of Miss Williams and Mr Waller performed a magnificent musical, providing many laughs and exposing some amazing talent in our students. From the stagehands right through to individual singers, every student did a fantastic job in presenting a very memorable production. Sadly, families were unable to attend this year so the school has invested in capturing the production with a quality video recording. Our plan is to share this with our school community in the forthcoming weeks where we can hold a virtual presentation evening for everyone. More details to follow.
As with many events this year, organisational decisions need to be made in advance for logistical purposes. As we plan for the end of the year, we will not be going ahead with our annual Christmas carols evening, at least in its current form. We are exploring how we might be able to present an alternative to our school community and will keep you updated in the coming weeks.
Some of the events that will go ahead include Kinder 2021 transition, swimming carnival, surf safety program (Stage 3), water safety (K-1), and the optional tennis and basketball gala days (Stage 3). Once again, parent participation will be very limited. The swimming carnival in Week 7 will be focusing on selection for the Northern Beaches 2021 Swimming Carnival, which means we will not be including modified events for the younger grades.
I ask you to keep in your thoughts and prayers the Kromrych family after the recent death of Beata’s father in Poland.
Congratulations to Tadgh M (Year 6) who was recently selected for the 13 year Division 1 team for Manly United.
