Dear Parents
On behalf of the school staff, I would like to thank the many parents who contributed to the coffee van that visited school twice this week. The gesture was welcomed and appreciated by all staff. Because of your generosity, the van will be coming again next week!
Feedback Survey
The survey sent home last week attracted 48 responses from 169 families. This gave the school a fair cross-section of feedback from our families. In general, the feedback was supportive of the school’s approach to HBL but did also express frustration with the challenges it brings. In response to the main questions, the majority of respondents stated that:
Some families have expressed concerns about children falling behind. This is more so in the early developmental years, especially with learning to read. Teachers are adjusting their support to help these children more. CSBB today announced the provision of extra teacher support for schools to assist vulnerable students during HBL and to continue once students return.
Supervision
Yesterday a letter was sent home asking families to book in for student supervision. As outlined, the booking form allows us to determine the number of teachers needed for supervision while providing a safe workplace environment for our staff and allowing them to plan, design and monitor student work. The booking form will be sent home each Thursday and remain open to the end of the school day each Friday.
P&F Executive and Class Parent Meeting
The P&F executive and class parents will hold an online catchup next Tuesday evening to discuss how our community is dealing with the challenges of lockdown and how the school is managing the provision of HBL. Details will be forwarded to participants from the P&F.
Trivia Night
I hope you are looking forward to tomorrow evening’s P&F event. CSBB has offered to cover the cost of the Trivia Night which takes the pressure off P&F funds. So far we have over 45 families booked in for this fun family night which commences at 6.30pm. There is still time to register.
God bless,
Michael Gallagher
