Dear Parents
The week has been an exciting one for St Kieran’s. Sunday evening was the first Youth Mass which was well attended by young members of the parish and schools. On Monday evening we held our first Parents and Friends meeting in over a year, followed by our first Open Day on Tuesday in two years! These events all indicate a return to gathering again as a school community.
I am pleased to announce that we are planning a St Kieran’s Cocktail Evening on 28 May at the Manly Pavilion. Save the date! Details to follow in the next week or so.
Parents and Friends AGM (Annual General Meeting)
Between those present at the meeting and others who joined through Zoom, the AGM was well attended. I would like to thank the outgoing P&F executive who have done a wonderful job through what were particularly challenging times in 2020. Thank you to Susanne Foale (President), Dana Reddy (Vice-President), Rachel Giunti (Secretary), Cath Gallery (Treasurer) and Gabi Selwyn (Class Parent Coordinator). Your contribution to the school community over the last two years has been very much appreciated. The new P&F team will be announced as soon as positions have been confirmed. In the meantime, our focus will be on creating opportunities to gather as community and begin considering fundraising ideas for the year, where possible.
Open Day
We had great support for our two Open Day sessions on Tuesday. Many thanks to all our volunteers, teachers, past students, and the Year 6 leaders, for being so enthusiastically supportive of the day. Another Open Day will take place on Monday 7 June. In the meantime, personalised tours are available for any family interested in St Kieran’s as a school for 2022. If you are enrolling a child for 2022, you will need to lodge your enrolment application as soon as possible.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Interviews begin next week. By now you have hopefully booked in for your interview(s) and have thought about what you would like to discuss with the class teacher. A reminder that the three-way interviews are for Year 2 students upwards. Please contact the school asap if you cannot make your interview.
Car Park
Council rangers having been patrolling school zones in the afternoon around the local area, fining drivers parking illegally or blocking access points. King St has become a problematic area between 2.50 and 3pm. I strongly recommend arriving for pick up after 3pm, or even parking and walking into the school.
Playgroup
Our second playgroup session is planned for next Friday 26 March. We are looking forward to welcoming new families in the Parish Hall.
