Dear Parents

As the school year draws to a close and some of our families finish their time as part of our St Kieran’s community, there are many “lasts” happening at present. Yesterday the Year 6 students celebrated the end of primary school with a dinner at Long Reef Golf Club. On Monday they will celebrate with the traditional Year 6 lunch hosted by Year 5 class parents, before ending the day with a liturgy in the church at 6pm.

I would like to thank our school community for the beautiful Thanksgiving Mass celebrated in our church yesterday. I was deeply moved by the opportunity to have the students, teachers, my family, some parent representatives, fellow principals and three of our Augustinian priests join in celebration. Thank you to Mrs Wetzlar, Ben Marshall, Fr Dave, Fr Paul and Fr Senan for providing such as lovely way to acknowledge my time at St Kieran’s.

Connections and Learning

We’ve come to the end of quite an unusual year and it is definitely time to have a rest and reflect on the journey we’ve all had to go on in 2021.

Lessons and appreciations learned and gained from our experiences this year can provide valuable purpose to living our lives to the fullest.  It has been absolutely wonderful to see how important connections are to our students.  This term, they’ve shown that they really appreciate each other and they need each other in order to learn and grow.

During Term 4, so many students have undertaken extra learning either as part of a small group or 1:1 and this has been beneficial in ensuring we could provide maximum learning opportunities for identified needs.  It has been a gift to see all our students demonstrate a desire to learn and pride in their achievements.

Thank you, parents, for your constant support this year and for maintaining an affirming approach to all the challenges we’ve had to face this year.  I wish all families a peaceful and Holy Christmas.

Kind regards,
     Marisa Bombardieri, Assistant Principal

St Kieran’s Religious Education Visual Arts Display
What amazing artists we have here at St Kieran's! Our students have depicted the Nativity Scriptures using a variety of mediums. We have four colour house galleries for parents and friends to view.  Thank you to the talented and enthusiastic artists, creative teachers and the hard-working Susanne Foale, all of whom put their heart and soul into the images. I’m sure many parents will be wanting to frame their children’s talent. Open the colour house links below to view the talent of our children.

I must compliment the students on their reverent behaviour at Mr Gallagher’s Thanksgiving Mass yesterday morning.  Thank you to our Yr 6 Leadership Teams and the Yr 5 choir. Congratulations children and teachers on your awesome responses and participation in our celebration.

Yours in Religious Education
     Mrs Kerrie Wetzlar

Library News

Thank You!

At this time of the year, I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all the parents who help me in the library. From assisting with PRC, Book Club, Book Fair, shelving and covering books, there is no way I could do it alone. Your assistance is so appreciated and I am so grateful. How wonderful that our students have these wonderful opportunities.

Library returns

Many thanks to all those students who have already returned their books. Unfortunately, there are many books still to be returned. Books must be returned before the end of the school year please. Lost or damaged books will need to be paid for. Congratulations to 4B for being the first class to return all their books.

School Uniform

With the end of the school year here, there will obviously be an opportunity to purchase new school shoes, socks and sport shoes as well as other uniform items for the start of the new year.

We’ve included the uniform guidelines for St Kieran’s and ask that the items listed are the items to be purchased for school wear.

Wearing the correct St Kieran’s uniform affirms the pride our students have in being a part of such a wonderful learning community.  Our students maintain a level of regard and esteem by ensuring they are wearing all the correct components of our school uniform.  We ask parents to ensure that the correct items are purchased and thank you for your consideration.

Italian News

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big grazie to all our students of Italian for making this end of year extra special with their constant efforts and enthusiasm after what has been a challenging year for all.

Congratulations also to the students who received an Italian certificate for exceptional engagement or achievement. Bravi!

Wishing you all a Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo.
     Maestra Fabiola
